How it works

Three steps, about five minutes of your time, and nothing to pay. No account to create, and your number never goes out to a list of companies.

  1. Tell us what needs doing

What the job is, roughly where, roughly when, and what you're hoping to spend. Add photos if you have them. Five minutes — and the more honest the description, the better the people who call you.

  2. We find the right few

A person reads your request and picks the handful of pros who actually do that kind of work, in your area, at your size of job. We check they're properly licensed and insured before they ever see it. Nobody outside that shortlist gets your details.

  3. They come to you

Two to four of them get in touch to talk through the job and price it. Compare what they say, ask the awkward questions, and hire whoever earns it — or hire none of them. Entirely your call, at no cost either way.

Our promises to you

What we hold ourselves to

  • Free for homeowners

You never pay us anything. You pay the contractor for the work, and that's the whole arrangement.

  • Your details stay private

Only the few pros matched to your job see your name and number. We don't sell requests on, and we never have.

  • No obligation, ever

Getting quotes doesn't commit you to anything. Plenty of people compare, think about it, and decide to wait — that's a fine outcome.

Frequently asked questions
How much does this cost me?

Nothing, at any stage. Describing your project is free, getting quotes is free, and there's no fee if you hire someone. You pay your contractor for the work they do — that's it.

How quickly will I hear from someone?

Usually within a business day. Urgent jobs — no heat, an active leak, anything unsafe — get pushed to pros who take emergency work, and those often move the same day.

How many people will contact me?

Usually two to four. We'd rather send you three good options than fifteen mediocre ones, and you shouldn't have to field calls all week to hire one person.

Who sees my phone number?

Only the contractors matched to your specific job. We don't resell requests, we don't add you to marketing lists, and nobody outside that shortlist gets your details.

Are the contractors actually checked?

Yes, before they can receive anything. We look up each one's licence in the state registry ourselves rather than taking their word for it, and confirm their bond and insurance are current. We re-check periodically, not just once at signup.

What if the job is small?

Send it anyway. Plenty of pros take repair and punch-list work between bigger projects, and a small job is often how a good long-term relationship starts.

Do I have to hire one of them?

No. If none of the quotes feel right, walk away — you owe nobody anything. We'd rather you waited than hired someone you weren't sure about.

What kinds of work can I ask about?

Most home projects: kitchens and bathrooms, roofing, plumbing, electrical, heating and cooling, flooring, decks, siding, windows, painting, concrete, and general repairs. If you're not sure it fits, describe it anyway and we'll tell you.

A better way to compare

Start with the job, not the lowest number

A useful contractor response explains the work to be done, material and labour assumptions, exclusions, permit responsibility, scheduling, and how changes will be handled. Asking each contractor to address the same details makes bids easier to compare fairly.

Keep the final decision in your hands

A match is an introduction, not a recommendation or a contract. Check current licensing, insurance, references, and written terms before you hire. If the scope changes after work begins, get the revised scope and price in writing first.

Prepare for a useful site visit

Point out the condition you want evaluated, provide access to the affected area, and gather any plans, prior repair records, photographs, or permit information you have. Ask each contractor to explain the proposed scope, the assumptions behind the price, and what would trigger a change order. This helps you compare complete responses instead of estimates based on different assumptions.
